Chumak Studio is a digital matte painting, concept art and art direction practice in Toronto, founded by Anastasiia Chumak, credited senior matte painter on House of the Dragon and The Penguin.
She holds 31 film and television credits between 2017 and 2026: environments painted at Pixomondo for House of the Dragon and Avatar: The Last Airbender, at Folks VFX for Daredevil: Born Again and Black Phone 2, and at PostModern Digital in Kyiv for The Wandering Earth. The studio handles environments end to end, from the first concept image to the finished set extension. The usual way in is a single shot, taken to final, and scope and scheduling start at anastasiia.chumak@chumak.studio.

Chumak Studio provides digital matte painting, concept art, art direction, 3D environments, visual development, digital illustration, and CG box art and key art, for feature and episodic productions and the VFX vendors working for them.
Geometry under the paint, built for projection so the environment holds when the camera moves.
One location painted at several times of day, until the palette and the material rules are settled.
A single finished image, painted edge to edge and delivered with its layers unflattened.
A CG subject lit and rendered into a painted world, as in a decade of Roden Ltd. box art.
Under its own name the studio has painted the box art for Roden Ltd's collectible model kits since 2016, ten years of work for one client. Anastasiia's film and television credits run to 31 between 2017 and 2026. Three of them are here. The full list is on the credits page.
These went to the productions and to their named visual effects leads, not to individual artists. Anastasiia painted environments on the titles below.
Most of this work is meant to go unnoticed. A set extension that holds at 4K, a horizon that sits under the grade without shifting, a city that reads as a place the camera happened to find. When an environment is right nobody in the audience thinks about it, and that is the job.
It starts as one still image. Reference, a rough paint, the light settled early while changing it is still cheap. Once the frame is agreed the environment goes up in layers and arrives as plates comp can take apart, with geometry underneath where the shot needs to move.
Thirty-one credits sit behind that, from Ukrainian features painted in Kyiv to episodic television finished in Toronto, and the drawing that started it never stopped. The longer version, including where the studio's name comes from, is on the about page.
