What this site is
chumak.studio is a portfolio. It exists to show finished work and to let a production get in touch. It sells nothing, takes no payment, and has no account to register for. Reading it means these terms apply to you.
Who owns the work shown here
The paintings, stills, films, articles, page designs and layout on this site belong to the studio, or to the productions the work was made for, or to their rights holders. None of it is offered for reuse.
Two things on this site belong to other people and are shown for identification only:
- The poster images on the credit pages. Each one belongs to the production it advertises and to that production's rights holders. They appear here so that a reader can recognise the title, and for no other reason. The studio claims no ownership of them.
- Production titles, studio names and trademarks. Naming a production is a record of work done on it. It is not a claim to own the production, and it is not a claim that the production endorses the studio.
What you may do
- Read the site, and link to any page on it.
- Quote a short passage from the journal, so long as the studio is named and there is a link back to the page it came from.
What you may not do
- Copy, republish or redistribute the images, the films or the written articles, whole or in substantial part, without written permission.
- Use anything here in your own commercial material, including in a pitch, a deck or a portfolio.
- Present the work as your own, or suggest the studio worked on something it did not.
- Try to break the site, overload it, or reach parts of it that are not published.
Credits and awards
The credits listed on this site are published as the productions' own records state them, including the role title as recorded there.
The awards pages say plainly that visual effects awards are made to a production and to its named visual effects leads, usually the visual effects supervisor, the visual effects producer and the vendor supervisors, and not to individual artists. What is listed on this site is the studio's contribution to those productions. It is not a claim on the award itself.
If you believe something published here about a production is wrong, write to the address on the contact page with what the record says.
Sending the contact form
The contact form is a way to start a conversation. Sending one does not create a contract, does not book time in the studio's schedule, and does not oblige the studio to take the work or to reply.
Do not send confidential material through the form. The contact page asks for a link to references rather than the files themselves, and this is the reason: an enquiry passes through a third-party form service and an email provider before anyone at the studio reads it. The privacy page names both. Anything covered by a non-disclosure agreement should wait until that agreement is in place.
Work the studio actually takes on is governed by what is agreed in writing for that job. These terms cover the website, not the job.
Links to other sites
Pages here link out to IMDb, Vimeo, Wikipedia, trade press and the studio's own social profiles. Those sites are not the studio's and are not controlled by it. What they do with your visit is covered by their own terms and their own privacy policies, not by this one.
What is not promised
The site is published as it stands. The studio takes care that what is on it is accurate, but does not promise that the site will always be reachable, that every outside link will keep working, or that every page is free of error. So far as the law allows, the studio is not liable for loss arising from using this site or from relying on something published on it. Nothing here removes a liability that the law does not allow to be removed.

What this site collects, and every company that receives it, is set out on the privacy page.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of the Province of Ontario and the law of Canada that applies in it. A dispute about them goes to the courts of Ontario. If you are a consumer, nothing on this page takes away a right that Ontario or Canadian consumer law gives you.

These terms can change. The version on this page is the one that applies, and the date shown with it is the date it last changed.
