4 titles on Netflix carry Chumak Studio environment work, made between 2019 and 2025. That work went through Pixomondo and PostModern Digital.
Netflix holds the widest spread of the studio's environment work, six years and two continents apart. On Avatar: The Last Airbender the Pixomondo environment team built locations such as the Southern Air Temple, painted and photobashed to steer the 3D build that followed. The Old Guard 2 needed the quieter kind: action set extensions carried across several vendor studios.
The two 2019 titles come from the PostModern Digital years in Kyiv, working on Chinese features. The Wandering Earth is frozen cities, a towering ice wall and the surface landscapes of a frozen future Earth. Shanghai Fortress is a fortified near-future Shanghai and the settings its aerial battles are fought in.
