Perry Mason

In March 2023, HBO's Perry Mason came back for a second season, once more placed in a Los Angeles that no longer exists in physical form; the city's skyline and street grid were rebuilt in the decades since. Director Marialy Rivas has said that, to keep greenscreen use light, the crew scouted actual corners of the city that looked old enough for the period and then completed the illusion with visual effects in post; the work included full water and ship sequences built over the season's first two episodes. Historical consultants who toured the Warner Bros. Ranch set in Burbank reported that a courtroom built on Stage 33 for a scene set in 1933 Los Angeles was dressed with Works Progress Administration style murals and filled with extras in 1930s clothing. Crafty Apes and Pixomondo provided the season's visual effects. Chumak contributed as a matte painter on the show.
