The Old Guard 2

For The Old Guard 2, filming took place on real locations rather than invented worlds. Production spent the summer of 2022 in Italy, including at Cinecitta Studios in Rome, before moving to the United Kingdom. A fire damaged part of the Cinecitta backlot while a set was being dismantled, delaying the shoot. Seven visual effects studios, Image Engine, Scanline VFX, WeFX, Tryptyc, One of Us, Pixomondo and Light, then expanded and refined what the production had actually captured. Work covered in Image Engine's published breakdown ranges from helicopters to healing wounds and from face swaps to cliff drops, and Scanline VFX's reel features a car chase, a sarcophagus rising from the ocean floor and a boat arriving at a villa. In 2024, after five weeks of post production, Netflix leadership changes shut the film down; production later resumed, and the film was not released until about a year afterward, in July 2025. Chumak worked on The Old Guard 2 as a digital matte painter, credited at Pixomondo.
